How Long Does a Lash Lift Last

Waking up with last night’s mascara clumps and spidery lashes is not the most attractive look. Sadly, we have all been there. But what if you wake up with long and curled lashes every single day, and without using a drop of mascara? Sounds magical, doesn’t it? Thanks to the advancement in the semi-permanent cosmetic industry, this magic can now become our reality.

Lash lifting has changed the beauty industry by allowing people to enhance their looks and get the most enviable curled lashes. A treatment like this has now allowed people to wake up looking ethereal and amazing, without putting in any effort. What’s more, is that lash lifting is one of the most low-maintenance procedures and has no downtime.

Sounds appealing, doesn’t it? That’s why we are going to talk all about lash lifting and how long it lasts.

What are Lash Lifts?

Lash lift is similar to perming, where your lashes are curled precisely, giving you an upward eye-opening look. Clients are free to choose how much they want their lashes to curl, either way, they look natural.

Essentially, lash lifting does exactly what an excellent lash-curler would do. Only, with lash curlers, the lashes return to their former state before the end of the day. With lash lifting, it lasts a lot longer. Additionally, lash lifting gives the lashes a nice shape that complements your eye shape.

The process involves using a keratin-based formula that nourishes and strengthens your lashes, at the same time as they are lifted upward. The lifting process involved using a silicon pad and a mild cosmetic-grade adhesive. Since the procedure involves around the delicate eye area, a trained and certified artist would take utmost care and follow all the safety protocols.

How Long Does a Lash Lift Last?

Lash lifting is a semi-permanent procedure. It is perfect for people going on vacations and wants to enjoy every moment exploring their surroundings, rather than curling their lashes. Fortunately, this treatment lasts up to anywhere between 6-8 weeks.

Granted that compared to other semi-permanent cosmetic procedures, lash lifting lasts for a shorter period. However, it should also be kept in mind that lash-lifting is a completely painless procedure and doesn’t involve any needles, blades, or ink. The artist works with your real lashes; hence they return to their original shape in 2-3 months.

The best thing about lash lifting is that it does not require any touch-ups or maintenance. What’s more, is that it has no downtime. You can go straight to an event from the salon.

Moreover, you can make your lifted lashes last long by avoiding activities such as swimming, and incorporating lash growth serums, coconut oil, or castor oil in your self-care routine.

Who can Benefit from Lash Lifting?

People who can truly benefit from lash lifting are the ones nursing their damaged lashes back to health. Not only will the procedure make their lashes appear healthier and longer, but it will also actually help them prevent further damage caused by applying and scrubbing away mascara. Keratin also helps to make the lashes stronger and healthier.

Any person who wants the coveted wide-eye look will love lash lifting. People with small eyes would also get the appearance of bigger and open eyes. Lash lifting is also a personal favorite of those who love their natural lashes and just want it to be more curled, without having to use mascara and lash curlers. Most importantly, lash lifting is a great option for those who prefer the natural vibe over makeup looks.

Aftercare of Lash Lifting

Lash lifting is perhaps the most low-maintenance semi-permanent cosmetic procedure. Compared to lash extensions, lash lifting procedures take only about an hour. Extensions however can take double their time, not to mention the fact that they require touch-ups every few weeks. Lash lifting on the other hand requires no aftercare at all, and you don’t need to be careful washing your face, doing your makeup, or during sleep.

The only aftercare lash lifting requires is just in the 24-hours following the procedure. This is the time when you have to let your lifted lashes set and take on their shape before you wash your face, take a hot shower, wear eye makeup or put any kind of product on it. After 24-hours, you can treat your lifted lashes like your regular lashes.

Steps Involved in a Lash Lift

The only way to ensure the best outcomes of any permanent cosmetic procedure is to do your research and know the exact steps involved in it. That way, if your makeup artist seems to miss a step, or does not follow the safety protocols, you can be your advocate.

Step 1: The procedure begins with a detailed consultation with your makeup artist. It’s important that everything is cleared before the procedure and you’re both on the same page. This is also the time where you can get answers to all your questions. Share your style and the kind of look you’re going for. The artist would also ask about your curl size and whether you want it fanned out or curled upwards etc.

Step 2: The artist will then cleanse your eye area and individually separate your top lashes from the bottom ones. To protect your eyes and to help the lashes stay in place, the artist will place a silicon pad on your eyelids. Once the pad is in place, the lashes are combed upwards and the perming solution is applied. The chemical takes approximately 5-6 minutes to curl the lashes.

The second layer of solution is applied and left for the same amount of time, to set the lashes in place and give them their shape.

Step 3: *Optional* The artist at this point can apply a black tint to your lashes to darken them and make any blond lash tips stand out.

During the entire procedure, your eyes will have to remain closed, so we suggest planning and putting on your favorite audiobook or a podcast to make the time fly by.

The entire outcome of your lash lifting depends on how good your makeup artist is. If you get the right treatment, everyone will notice your lashes and envy them!
